It's Time to Sunset Our Anger

When the engine light comes on in your car, how do you react? I know some people who have been driving with the engine light on for years, thinking I'm sure there is just something faulty with the dumb light. In reality, there is something wrong under the hood.

Anger works the same way in our souls. It's a warning light indicating a deeper issue that needs to be addressed before it causes real damage. The problem is that many of us treat anger like we would a piece of tape over that warning light - we try to hide it or pretend it's not there.

We might call it by other names or stuff it down deep, but ignoring anger doesn't make it go away. In fact, unresolved anger never stays small. It grows and mutates into bitterness, revenge, and division.

Paul understood this when he wrote about not letting the sun go down on our anger. He knew that anger, left unattended, gives the enemy a foothold in our lives. It becomes a doorway for destruction to enter our relationships, our peace, and our witness.

Today, when you feel anger rising, try replacing it with trust. Trust that God sees, God cares, and God is working even when you can't see it.
