We Need a Copernican Shift

For most of human history, we lived under the illusion that we were the center of it all. Every star, every planet, every movement in the sky was thought to orbit around us. It shaped how people understood reality, humanity, and our place in the cosmos.
Then in the 1500s, a quiet astronomer named Nicolaus Copernicus proposed a shocking idea: the sun—not the earth—was at the center of our solar system. The universe did not revolve around us after all.
Today, we need a similar revolution in our hearts - a daily shift that re-centers Jesus at the center of our lives. Every morning, we wake up with the temptation to believe the world revolves around us. Competing priorities vie for the center of our personal universe. Our responsibilities demand attention, relationships pull at us, financial pressures mount, and ambitions crowd our thoughts. Without intentional recentering, these competing forces create chaos in our lives, much like planets spinning out of control.
The glorious truth is that when Jesus becomes the blazing center of our lives, everything else finds its proper place. Our work becomes worship, our relationships become opportunities to reflect His love, and our challenges become avenues for growth.
Re-centering our lives on Jesus isn't a one-time decision but a daily choice to surrender control and acknowledge that our lives orbit around Him, not the other way around. Just as the sun's gravity holds planets in perfect order, the grace of God holds every aspect of our lives in alignment. When we start each day recognizing Jesus as the center, we experience his peace amid chaos.
